A determined Olympiacos went ahead in the Greek Basketball League finals on Friday by downing Panathinaikos Athens 99-88 at the Athens Olympic Stadium (OAKA) in an away game, meaning that the Piraeus club can clinch the championship with a win at home on Sunday at the Peace & Friendship (SEF).
The win for Giorgos Bartzokas‘ Olympiacos broke the “home court advantage” of Panathinaikos, going up two games to one.
The match was played after the top team managements of both sides agreed to avoid acrimony. Earlier, a special judge issued a 10-month ban on Panathinaikos owner Dimitris Giannakopoulos from entering any sports venues.
The Reds led at halftime 45-44.
Olympiacos was led by Sasha Vezenkov, who scored 25 points.
