Agia Anna Beach in Naxos has been included in the list of the world’s 100 best beaches for 2026, according to the international “Corona Beach 100” ranking, as presented by the British newspaper The Sun.
The distinction further strengthens the island’s global profile and underscores Naxos’ growing reputation as a leading destination for high-quality tourism. According to the report, the evaluation was based on three key criteria: local culture, connection with nature, and the overall aesthetic of the landscape. Agia Anna secured the top position in the ranking, a recognition that highlights the exceptional character of its natural setting and its strong appeal to visitors.
The recognition adds to a series of recent features by The Sun on Naxos, in which the publication has portrayed the island as one of Europe’s most attractive holiday destinations. In earlier coverage, it described Naxos as a place that combines “white sandy beaches, crystal-clear waters, and striking natural scenery,” while also highlighting its sense of authenticity despite growing international attention.
Particular emphasis was placed on beaches such as Plaka, Agios Prokopios, Agia Anna, and Agios Georgios, alongside the island’s broader cultural identity. The report noted the unique blend of sea, heritage, gastronomy, and history, referencing landmarks including the Portara, the town of Naxos (Chora), and the island’s strong agricultural traditions.
Agia Anna’s inclusion carries added weight given the global scope of the ranking, which features beaches from across Europe, Asia, Africa, the Americas, and Oceania, including destinations in Spain, Italy, France, Portugal, Croatia, Turkey, Morocco, Thailand, and the United Kingdom. Its presence among such diverse locations reinforces the enduring international appeal of Greece’s island landscapes.
Commenting on the distinction, Naxos Deputy Mayor for Tourism Vangelis Katsaras said the island offers a rare combination of extensive sandy beaches, mountain villages, traditional architecture, cultural heritage sites, gastronomic experiences, and authentic hospitality, positioning it as one of the most multifaceted destinations in the Aegean.
