The European Union is exploring ways to support a newly established committee tasked with managing the civil administration of Gaza, according to a document seen by Reuters.
The document, produced by the EU’s diplomatic service, the European External Action Service, stated that the bloc is “engaging with the newly established transitional governance structures for Gaza” and is examining “possible support to the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza.”
The EU’s interest comes amid ongoing challenges in Gaza following years of conflict, and the bloc is evaluating how it can contribute to stability and governance in the territory.
European foreign ministers are expected to discuss the situation in Gaza at a meeting in Brussels on February 23, the document noted. The outcome of these discussions could shape the EU’s role in supporting civil administration efforts in the region.
