Italian President Sergio Mattarella on Tuesday received the chairman of the Greece-based Antenna Group, Theodoros Kyriakou, in Rome’s presidential Quirinal Palace for a cordial meeting, according to an official announcement.

During their meeting, both Mattarella and Kyriakou underlined the role and the safeguarding of Europe’s values at a time of increased international instability.

Kyriakou presented the strategic development plans for Italy-based GEDI, one of Europe’s leading media and entertainment groups, whose acquisition of which was announced last month by the Antenna Group. A central role in the expansion of GEDI’s activities revolves around the historic Italian daily La Repubblica, as well as its 15 websites, three radio stations, the HuffPost Italia and National Geographic media outlets, the advertising company Limes and its television streaming platform.

Leveraging its extensive experience in media, news, and entertainment, Antenna Group is dynamically advancing GEDI’s development plan with the aim of establishing it as a strong, international Group that promotes independent journalism. Particular emphasis is placed on developing the daily newspaper La Repubblica, expanding its presence into new markets and showcasing the award-winning journalistic work of its staff.
