US President Donald Trump has launched a sharp attack on the Grammy Awards and its host, comedian Trevor Noah, threatening legal action over comments made during the ceremony that referenced the Jeffrey Epstein case.
Posting on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump criticized the Grammys as “the worst” and singled out Noah personally, comparing him unfavorably to other late-night hosts. His anger focused on a joke Noah made while presenting the award for Song of the Year, which was won by Billie Eilish.
During his remarks, Noah congratulated Eilish before adding a quip comparing the prestige of the award to Trump’s publicly stated interest in Greenland. He then made a reference to Epstein, suggesting that Trump would need “a new island” following Epstein’s death, also mentioning former US President Bill Clinton.
Trump strongly denied the implication, stating that he had never visited Epstein’s island or any nearby location. He described Noah’s comments as “false and defamatory” and said he had never previously been accused of being there, including by the media.
The president went on to threaten legal action against the comedian, saying his lawyers may sue Noah for significant damages. He concluded his post with further personal insults aimed at the Grammys host, escalating the public confrontation.
