A drone show illuminated the sky over New York Harbor on the evening of September 9, creating a moving tribute to the victims of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
Using 2,977 lights, the display recreated the Twin Towers at full scale, two days before the 25th anniversary of the attacks.
Families of September 11 victims, survivors and first responders participated in creating the tribute.

9/11 families, survivors and first responders helped create the tribute, including FDNY’s Brenda Berkman and Tim Brown, Terry Strada of 9/11 Families United, Jim Smith and Genevieve Siller.
It was meant as a moment of remembrance and unity.
But as the towers dissolved back into scattered lights, it became hard not to flinch.
For some, it felt less like a tribute and more like watching it happen again.
