Jenny Kazakou has emerged as one of the most distinctive and promising talents of Greece’s new generation of actors. Carrying a surname steeped in artistic history—as the daughter of acclaimed actors Konstantinos Kazakos and Tania Trypi, and the granddaughter of legendary performers Kostas Kazakos and Jenny Karezi, who dominated Greek theatre and cinema throughout the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s—she has nevertheless succeeded in forging an independent path from the very beginning of her career.

Audiences first took notice of her through the television series Sympetheroi apo ta Tirana (The In-Laws from Tirana) and Vardianos sta Sporka, while her performances in Ladies’ Paradise and Agios Erotas further showcased her range and talent. More recently, she impressed theatre-goers by sharing the stage with her mother in the acclaimed production With Strength from Kifissia.

Now, in 2026, the young actress becomes the muse of internationally renowned photographer Calliope in a concept that seamlessly blends Greek tradition with contemporary sensibilities. Through her lens, Calliope captures the purity and classical elegance of Jenny’s features, presenting her as a quintessential embodiment of modern Greek beauty. Yet this is far more than an aesthetic exercise; it is an exploration of a deeper connection to heritage and cultural memory.

“I’m Interested in What Remains Behind the Words”
When asked how she experiences this meeting of past and present through her art, Kazakou offered a reflection that left little room for superficial interpretations, revealing that cultural heritage is not a burden she carries, but a living presence that informs her work:

“When I act, I never feel as though I’m starting from zero. There is always something that came before me: a shadow, a story, a gaze that was expressed centuries ago. Perhaps that is why I am so fascinated by what exists in between. Not only by what is said, but by what remains behind the words. That is where all the tension lies for me. That is where I feel the memory of Greek culture.”
