Christopher Nolan and Matt Damon have arrived in Pylos for the filming of the mega-production Odyssey, and Charlize Theron is on the way.

Mega captured footage of Christopher Nolan, Matt Damon, and other members of the film crew in Pylos, engaged in discussions as filming for Odyssey begins.

A trireme- an ancient warship that will serve as Odysseus’ ship in the film- is also in Pylos. According to Mega’s report, cranes necessary for raising and lowering the ship’s sails have also arrived.

An inaugural press release photo shows Matt Damon in the title role of Odysseus (Ulysses), in Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’.

In addition, several smaller boats will be used, while the scenes featuring the Cyclops will be filmed in the breathtaking beach of Voidokilia, inside Nestor’s Cave.

Matt Damon has arrived in Kalamata, alongside Christopher Nolan and actor Tom Holland, for the Odyssey shoot in the region, and Charlize Theron is expected to arrive shortly for filming at Voidokilia, Methoni Castle, and Acrocorinth.

The production of Odyssey has a staggering budget of $250 million and features an all-star Hollywood cast, including Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Charlize Theron, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, and Robert Pattinson.

Greek PM Mitsotakis has recently referred to the filming of the Odyssey with pride in a social media post noting that the “…scenes of the film will be shot in various locations in Greece, which have already been selected. This is another international cinematic production that will reinforce our country’s position as a leading global destination for such productions. Since 2019… with the new Hellenic Film and Audiovisual Center S.A. (Creative Greece), we have invested around 140 million euros in 211 projects – film, television, animation, documentaries. Half of this sum has been directed to international productions, and the rest has supported domestic artistic, film and television production.”
