Rock legends Metallica have officially sold out their upcoming Athens concert in record time, with all tickets for their May 9, 2026 performance at the Olympic Stadium (OAKA) snapped up within just two hours of going on general sale.

Ticketing platform Ticketmaster confirmed the sold-out status, noting that even the final remaining tickets disappeared within hours after the general release began on Friday.  The high demand for tickets resulted in serious delays during both presale and general sale, with fans having to “queue” nervously for hours to snatch a spot.

Metallica’s one-night show comes after a 16 hear hiatus from Greece and will mark their fifth appearance in the country.

The event’s explosive lineup includes special guests Gojira and Knocked Loose, setting the stage for an unforgettable evening of heavy music. Metallica also promise an unforgettable stage experience, showcasing their 360° “in the round” stage that has left fans starstruck worldwide.

The concert is part of the band’s global M72 World Tour, which continues into its fourth year following enormous success across the globe. The show in Athens will jump-start the band’s European leg of their tour that will run May through July of next year.
