A 14-year-old boy riding a motorcycle struck a woman and her two minor daughters in the western Greek city of Messolonghi, before leaving the scene without stopping to help.
The mother was taken to Messolonghi General Hospital for medical treatment. Her two daughters were initially transferred to the Karamandaneio Children’s Hospital in the nearby city of Patras. They were later discharged and returned home after doctors determined that their condition was not considered serious.
Teenager left crash scene
A police investigation found that the 14-year-old did not have a driver’s license and left the scene after the crash.
Authorities filed a case against the teenager for leaving the scene of a traffic accident, as well as violations of Greece’s Highway Code.
The motorcycle the boy was riding belonged to his father.
Father arrested
The teenager’s father was arrested and faces charges of exposing a minor to danger and neglecting his parental supervision duties.
Police are also searching for the boy’s mother, who faces a charge of neglecting supervision of a minor.
The father is expected to appear before the relevant authorities.
