A 19-year-old motorcycle rider who was driving without a license injured a police officer after failing to stop for a traffic check in the northeastern Greek city of Komotini, authorities said.
The crash left both the officer and the young rider injured, and they were taken by ambulance to the emergency department of the Sismanoglio General Hospital of Komotini for medical treatment.
According to local news outlet xronos.gr, the rider ignored a signal from police officers to stop for inspection and continued driving, resulting in the motorcycle striking the officer.
Police later determined that the 19-year-old did not have a valid driver’s license.
Both Injuries Considered Minor
The two injured individuals remain hospitalized at Sismanoglio Hospital. Their injuries have been described as minor, and their lives are not considered to be in danger.
The 19-year-old was arrested on charges related to violations of the Greek Road Traffic Code, negligent bodily harm, and dangerous driving.
The Komotini Traffic Police Department is conducting the preliminary investigation into the incident.
