24-Year-Old Found Dead in Mother’s Arms After 24 Hours

A young man with a chronic health condition was found dead in the apartment he shared with his mother, who had remained with him for more than a day before authorities were alerted.

A family tragedy unfolded in the central Greek city of Lamia after a 24-year-old man was found dead inside the apartment where he lived with his mother.

According to local reports, the man, who had been suffering from a chronic health condition, had died more than 24 hours earlier and remained in his mother’s arms during that time. The 69-year-old woman was reportedly trying to contact a funeral home for assistance.

The owner of the funeral home said he initially struggled to understand her calls and believed the situation might be a prank. Later in the day, when the woman contacted him again asking why no one had arrived to collect her son, he informed police.

Police Discovered Mother With Son’s Body

Police officers were immediately dispatched to the apartment, where they found the mother with her deceased son.

An ambulance crew arrived shortly afterward but confirmed that the 24-year-old had already been dead for several hours.

A forensic examination will be carried out to determine the exact cause of death, as required by law. Authorities are also expected to transfer the mother to a psychiatric facility for medical care and support.

Family Had Recently Moved From Germany

The mother and son had no known ties to Lamia and had moved to the city in May after relocating from Germany.

Most of their belongings reportedly remained packed, as the mother was said to be unhappy with the apartment and had been looking for a new place to live.

The young man’s father is believed to have died, while it remains unclear whether the family has any other relatives. The mother had decided to return to Greece for personal reasons and appears to have chosen Lamia as her new home.

Authorities are now working both to arrange the necessary procedures regarding the young man’s death and to identify any possible relatives, while also addressing the mother’s condition and need for care.
