New details have emerged about the deadly confrontation that took place on Thursday afternoon, July 23, on the island of Syros, involving a couple and a 41-year-old EKAV emergency responder, as police examine security camera footage collected during their investigation.
As authorities report, the footage shows the woman arriving outside the home where the couple lived, wearing EKAV uniform trousers and gloves, with part of her face covered. She was carrying a backpack and a plastic bag. The backpack allegedly contained an air gun and a knife.
The footage reportedly shows the woman leaving the backpack outside the house and remaining at the entrance for several minutes before ringing the doorbell. She is said to have used the plastic bag to avoid directly touching the doorbell.
According to the preliminary police investigation, the 41-year-old man’s wife opened the door. The woman allegedly attacked her, causing a minor injury to her abdomen.

A confrontation then followed inside the home. The 41-year-old man allegedly took a knife from the kitchen and stabbed the woman in the back.
The injured woman subsequently left the house and attempted to flee. Authorities examining the evidence say the man pursued her, initially throwing a flowerpot that struck her on the head. He then allegedly attacked her with a chair.

The 41-year-old woman collapsed shortly afterwards outside the residence. An EKAV ambulance arrived at the scene and transported her to Syros Hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead.
The 41-year-old man, who was arrested and is facing a homicide case, claims he acted in self-defence during the confrontation. Police believe the clash may have followed an attempted robbery.

His wife, who was initially taken in for questioning, has since been released, as investigators have so far found no evidence linking her to the woman’s fatal injuries.
The preliminary investigation remains ongoing. Police are examining security footage, witness statements and evidence collected at the scene in an effort to establish the precise circumstances surrounding the fatal confrontation.
