A 35-year-old man was hospitalized after being shot in the western Thessaloniki district of Dendropotamos on Friday evening, while police launched a search for the suspected gunman.

According to preliminary information from Greek authorities, the shooting occurred shortly after 8:00 p.m. local time under circumstances that remain under investigation.

After the attack, the wounded man made his way to the nearby Macedonia intercity bus terminal, where he contacted police to report the incident and request assistance.

Emergency medical personnel transported him to Hippokrateio Hospital with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Hospital officials said his injuries were not considered life-threatening.

Police have opened an investigation into the shooting and are searching for the suspect. Detectives from the Ampelokipoi-Menemeni Crime Investigation Unit are leading the inquiry.

Authorities have not announced any arrests or a possible motive for the attack.
