Three suspects have surrendered to police following a fatal bar fight in the southern Greek city of Patras that left a 30-year-old man dead, authorities said.
The three men—two brothers aged 35 and 38 and a 29-year-old friend—turned themselves in late Monday after being identified among nine suspects linked to the deadly assault. During their statements, they denied responsibility for the killing and claimed surveillance footage from the venue shows who carried out the fatal blows.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday at a nightlife venue in central Patras, when two groups got into a heated argument that quickly escalated into a physical confrontation. According to investigators, several individuals repeatedly punched and kicked the victim, causing severe injuries.
Realizing the seriousness of his condition, those involved transported the 30-year-old to a local hospital before fleeing the scene. Despite doctors’ efforts, the man later died.
Medical findings indicate that the victim died from myocardial ischemia caused by the violent blows he sustained. He was reportedly taken to the hospital in a state consistent with brain death, with dilated pupils.
Police continue to investigate the case as part of a broader inquiry involving all identified suspects, while reviewing witness statements and available video footage to fully determine individual responsibilities in the fatal altercation.
