A new phase of witness statements has begun in the investigation into the double murder of a 54-year-old woman and her 26-year-old son in Aigio, Greece, as authorities examine possible changes made to the crime scene before police arrived.

The case, which has shocked the local community, remains focused on the statements and alleged inconsistencies surrounding the deaths at the family home in Longos, Aigialeia.

The woman’s Italian partner, who has been remanded in custody over the killings, continues to maintain his innocence. Investigators are expected to call again for testimony from his friend and neighbor, who was the first person he contacted after the bodies were discovered.

The 65-year-old suspect has claimed that he found the two victims dead and, in a state of panic, called his friend for help. According to the information being examined by authorities, phone records appear to support that he made the call.

However, questions remain over the exact timeline of events. Investigators are looking into when the suspect woke up and discovered the bodies, as he reportedly changed the time mentioned in his statement twice.

Police believe he may have provided an inaccurate timeline in an attempt to distance himself from possible evidence at the scene.

Speaking to Greek television channel MEGA, Greek Police spokesperson Konstantia Dimoglidou said authorities had identified indications of possible intervention at the crime scene, raising the possibility that the scene had been altered before investigators arrived.

According to the current findings, authorities believe the suspect may have had several hours available to clean or alter parts of the home. The two victims are believed to have died early on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, while authorities were notified about the bodies at around noon.
