A one-off child support payment of €150 per child is being provided to around 975,000 households in Greece, with payments made automatically to eligible beneficiaries without the need for a new application.

The emergency child benefit will be paid in two phases, depending on the information available for each child.

First payments due by June 30

The first payment phase will be completed by Tuesday, June 30, 2026.

It applies to beneficiaries who declared their children in their 2024 tax returns. The only requirement is that the correct bank account details, including the IBAN, have been registered on Greece’s tax platform Taxisnet.

Payments will be automatically transferred based on data held by the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE).

Second phase includes newborn children

The second payment phase will run until August 31, 2026, and concerns children born between January 1, 2025 and July 31, 2026.

For children born in 2025, they must be included in the 2025 income tax declaration.

For children born up to July 31, 2026, parents must have requested the issuance of a tax identification number (AFM) by August 10, 2026.

Amount of the benefit

The support amounts to €150 per child, with no maximum limit on the total payment.

For example, a family with eight children would receive a total of €1,200.

Income criteria for beneficiaries

Eligibility is determined based on family circumstances and income limits.

For a single parent with one child, the family income limit is €39,000, with a payment of €150.

For married couples with one child, the income threshold increases to €40,000, with the same €150 payment.

For single parents with two children, the income limit is €44,000 and the benefit rises to €300.

For married couples with two children, the threshold is €45,000, with a €300 payment.

What beneficiaries should check

Authorities advise beneficiaries to ensure their IBAN details on Taxisnet are correct and updated. If the registered bank account information is incorrect, the payment cannot be completed.

The first payment phase in June will be based exclusively on information from the 2024 tax year declarations.
