Hellenic Train breakdown strands passengers near Serres

A Thessaloniki–Serres train broke down at Mouries station with 61 people aboard; the operator is running replacement buses for both directions

A train running route 1634 (Thessaloniki–Serres) broke down at Mouries station at 4:29 PM with 61 passengers on board due to a technical fault, Hellenic Train announced.

To assist passengers, route 1634 will be replaced by Hellenic Train buses on the Mouries–Serres section, skipping the Strymonas and Skotoussa stations.

Schedule changes

Route 1635 (Serres–Thessaloniki) will run entirely by Hellenic Train bus, without stops at Skotoussa, Strymonas, Doirani, Herso, Metallikos, Pedino, Gallikos, and Nea Filadelfia stations.

“Hellenic Train is investigating the cause of the malfunction and thanks passengers for their understanding,” the company said in its announcement.
