First responders managed to locate and rescue an Italian female tourist and her daughter, who were stranded in an inaccessible area in Chania, Crete.
Fifteen firefighters, two fire trucks, and a team from the 3rd EMAK were dispatched to the scene to assist in rescuing the two women.
The tourists had been hiking along the trail connecting Balos Beach with Falassarna when they found themselves in trouble, according to local reports.
Fortunately, both women were in good health. They were picked up by an ambulance from EKAB and transferred to Chania General Hospital as a precaution.
“Two hikers were safely transported from a trail in Kissamos, Chania, Crete, and handed over to an EKAB ambulance. Fifteen firefighters and two fire engines took part in the operation,” the fire service said in its statement.
