A sentence of juvenile oversight has been imposed on a 15-year-old in Thessaloniki who was found guilty of distributing lewd photos and videos, via the internet, showing another teenage girl.
According to reports, the victim in the latest shocking instance of “revenge porn” allegedly tried to end her life twice when she learned of the circulated material. The case reached the courts in April 2024 after a complaint was filed with police by the mother of the then 13-year-old girl.
A juvenile court in Thessaloniki found the 15-year-old guilty and imposed the more-or-less lenient sentence. The court also accepted that the victim had attempted suicide, which the defense disputed.
During the closed-door trial the juvenile defendant reportedly admitted that he sent the lewd images to a friend, while acknowledging his fault. He claimed that the images had been sent to him by the victim, with whom he communicated with via an online application.
