Μake us preferred on Google Two noted defense attorneys have withdrawn from representing the detained female doctor in the case surrounding the death of Greek pop star Giorgos Mazonakis, while continuing to represent her husband, the other physician who is also being held in pretrial detention in connection with the case.
In a statement, the lawyers said their continued representation of the latter was necessary on procedural grounds, citing differences in the factual basis of the defense of the two defendants. They said they would provide a detailed explanation for their decision if considered necessary.
The development comes as authorities continue to scrutinize the circumstances surrounding Mazonakis’ collapse – and subsequent death – following a medical procedure at a private clinic in the upscale Kolonaki district of central Athens.

The investigation remains ongoing, with the two physicians – husband and wife – detained in a main penitentiary in the greater Athens area, as authorities examine the evidence and await further findings, including medical evidence concerning the precise circumstances of Mazonakis’ death.
