A man was found dead inside a car submerged in a lake in northern Greece on Monday morning, prompting an investigation by local authorities.
The vehicle was discovered at around 10 a.m. in Lake Polyfytos, near the town of Velvento. Police were immediately alerted and officers were dispatched to the scene, located several kilometers from the town near the Lafista stream area.
Authorities are continuing recovery operations, with fishing vessels from a local professional fishermen’s association expected to assist at the site.
The identity of the deceased has not yet been officially confirmed.
The discovery comes one day after a 73-year-old man from the same area was reported missing. However, authorities have not established whether the body found in the vehicle belongs to the missing individual.
