According to reports, the man was discovered unresponsive in the area known as Zonaria, on the slopes of Greece’s highest mountain.
The search effort involved more than 20 firefighters from specialized rescue units, as well as volunteers and drone teams that combed the rugged terrain in an attempt to locate the missing mountaineer.
The climber had reportedly set out alone from a mountain refuge with the aim of reaching Mytikas, the highest peak of Mount Olympus.
