A 38-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a serious road accident in the early hours of Thursday in the southern Athens suburb of Glyfada. The crash occurred around 1 a.m. at the junction of Vouliagmenis Avenue and Andrea Papandreou Street, a busy intersection even late at night.
According to initial reports, the fatal collision happened when a car, under circumstances still under investigation, struck the motorcycle the man was riding. The impact left the motorcyclist critically injured. Emergency services transported him to the Asklepieio Voulas hospital, where he later died.
A taxi driver who spoke to Greek media claimed the car may have run a red light while travelling along Andrea Papandreou Street, allegedly hitting the motorcycle as it crossed the junction. Authorities have not yet confirmed this account, and the exact causes of the crash remain under examination.
