On Friday, March 27, 2026, unsettled weather is expected across much of Greece, making travel and outdoor activities potentially challenging. Rain will begin early in western Greece, Thrace, and the eastern Aegean islands, gradually spreading to most parts of the country throughout the day.

Thunderstorms are forecast primarily in western regions, the northern and northeastern Aegean, and the Dodecanese. Some of these storms may be locally intense, with a risk of hail especially in the Ionian Islands, western mainland areas, and the northeastern Aegean. By the evening, conditions will improve in most regions, with lingering rain mainly in western Greece and the Dodecanese.

Snowfall is expected in mountainous areas of the mainland, as well as in semi-mountainous parts of Western Macedonia and Epirus. Meanwhile, elevated concentrations of African dust will affect Crete and the Dodecanese, potentially reducing air quality and visibility.

Temperatures will drop nationwide. In Western Macedonia, temperatures will range from 1 to 9°C, while the rest of northern Greece will see 2 to 16°C. Epirus will range from 3 to 13°C, Thessaly from 5 to 15°C, and other mainland regions from 6 to 16°C. The Ionian Islands will experience 10 to 14°C, northern and northeastern Aegean islands 10 to 16°C, and the rest of the Aegean islands and Crete will range from 11 to 20°C.

Winds will be strong, especially over the seas. In the Aegean, southwesterly winds will reach 5 to 6 Beaufort, locally up to 7. In the Ionian Sea, westerly winds will also blow at 5 to 6 Beaufort, briefly reaching 7 before easing later in the evening.

In Athens, clouds will gradually thicken, bringing rain or thunderstorms after midday. Winds will be southwesterly at 5 to 6 Beaufort, weakening overnight. Temperatures will range from 11 to 16°C.

In Thessaloniki, expect cloudy skies with intermittent rain, improving by the afternoon. Winds will start from the south to southeast at 3 to 4 Beaufort, shifting to westerly winds up to 3 Beaufort later in the day. Temperatures will range from 9 to 15°C.
