Developments have emerged in the case of the paramedic who was found stabbed in the back on Syros, with a ruling by the Syros Council of Misdemeanors Judges on the events of that fateful afternoon described as particularly damning. The motive for the killing remains unknown, while authorities believe the mobile phones of those involved could shed light on the case.
Meanwhile, the victim’s father spoke to Greek broadcaster Star, emotionally describing the final hours before the tragedy.
“She was full of life, she loved everyone, she helped everyone… We are devastated. Her mother and I are devastated,” he said.
The father of the 42-year-old rescuer revealed that his daughter was at their home on the afternoon of the killing.
“At 4 p.m., she was here at home. ‘Dad,’ she said to me, ‘I’m going to take care of something and I’ll be back.’ Around 7, my brother called me and said, ‘Have you heard anything? A girl was stabbed in Ano Syros?’ … From that moment, my legs started to give way,” he said.
For the father, the pretrial detention of the defendant represents a first measure of justice. But the family continues to search for answers about the July afternoon that changed their lives.
“He stabbed her with hatred”
According to information reported by Star, judicial authorities are focusing on two key elements from their analysis of the visual evidence in the case.
The first concerns contradictions in the 41-year-old defendant’s statements about which hand he was holding the knife in. The second is the absence of bloodstains along the 70-meter route the victim traveled after leaving the house.
The defendant maintains that the stabbing took place inside the home. Authorities, however, believe the evidence indicates that the attack occurred outside.
The central question remains: Why did a mother of two leave her home disguised and carrying a knife, only to go to the door of the couple’s home?
The robbery theory appears to be losing ground, while investigators believe the answers may lie in the mobile phones of those involved.
