Two men in Thessaloniki are facing legal action after allegedly abandoning old furniture and household items on a pavement while moving out of a rented apartment.
The incident took place in September 2025 in the Papafi area of Thessaloniki, Greece’s second-largest city, and was reported to the authorities. Following an investigation, officers from the Environmental Protection Department of the Thessaloniki Police formed a case file against the two men for violating environmental protection legislation.
According to the police announcement, the two 39-year-olds left sofas, old furniture, cabinets and broken wooden structures on the pavement after clearing out the apartment.
Authorities said the action caused pollution and degraded the surrounding environment, creating an unsightly scene and leaving the area unsuitable for its intended use.
