A 30-year-old driver was killed in a fatal road accident near Thessaloniki after losing control of his car and crashing into a light pole before the vehicle burst into flames.
The crash occurred on a service road running alongside the Egnatia Motorway in the Oraiokastro area. According to initial information, the driver veered off the road under circumstances that remain unclear and collided violently with the pole.

The impact caused the car to catch fire, with the flames spreading to nearby low vegetation. Firefighters who responded to the scene found the 30-year-old victim’s body next to the burned-out vehicle.
Authorities said the force of the collision was so severe that the light pole was torn from its base, while the vehicle’s engine was thrown a considerable distance from the crash site, highlighting the intensity of the impact.
