A team of volunteers from Thessaloniki is heading to Crete to aid in the search for 33-year-old doctor Alexis Tsikopoulos, whose disappearance on December 7, 2025, has left his family desperate for answers. Despite extensive efforts over the past 38 days, authorities and search teams have yet to locate him.
The volunteer rescue group O.F.K.A.TH., in coordination with Silver Alert Hellas, is leading the operation following a request from Tsikopoulos’s family. The team will arrive on Wednesday, January 14, equipped with modern technology including three drones, thermal and underwater cameras, and three specially trained dogs from Kyon Osfrisis.
In addition, the Hunting Federation of Crete and the Dodecanese is contributing local knowledge, with hunters and gamekeepers familiar with the terrain assisting the search. Authorities urge residents who may have seen or remembered anything relevant to contact the team confidentially.
Tsikopoulos, who worked at Venizeleio Hospital, reportedly called his father on the day of his disappearance, saying he was unwell. His car was later found in the Chania area with a mechanical fault, but no further trace of him has been found. A Silver Alert was issued shortly after his disappearance.
The search has faced complications, including a case in which a private investigator misled the family with false promises of finding Alexis using “quantum technology.” The man was later convicted and sentenced to 2.5 years in prison with a suspended sentence and fined €2,000.
