The attack took place in the early hours of Saturday, when the couple left a nightclub after an argument that quickly escalated into violence. According to the victim’s testimony, the 49-year-old man, reportedly under the influence of alcohol, repeatedly punched and kicked her before dragging her along the street.
Video footage captured shortly after the assault shows the woman clutching her head and attempting to flee, while her partner follows closely behind. Witnesses who saw the attack unfold called emergency services.
Police officers located the couple a short distance away. According to an officer’s statement, the man continued to pull the woman by her arms while she was on the ground, shouting for help. The woman managed to break free and seek assistance when officers arrived.
The suspect was arrested on charges of domestic violence. He denied the allegations, claiming that his partner had been intoxicated and had harmed herself.
Authorities urge victims of domestic violence to seek help through the dedicated 24/7 SOS service 15900, emphasizing that intervention can be life-saving.
Official data shows that thousands of calls related to abuse are reported each year. In 2025 alone, the service recorded 6,773 calls, 4,275 reporting abuse incidents, while the rest asking for information. Two thirds of the calls came directly from victims, while 21.7% came from friends, family, neighbors and bystanders.
In the same year, 5,550 women downloaded the panic button on their phone. The button was activated 1,024 times to alert authorities.
