A 36-year-old woman in Porto Rafti, a coastal town near Athens, has filed a domestic violence complaint after alleging she was physically assaulted by her husband, according to police reports.

The incident is said to have taken place on Friday evening, when the woman contacted authorities claiming her husband had repeatedly struck her on the head.

Alleged attack inside the home

Police officers arrived at the residence shortly after the call, where the woman described the alleged assault as having been triggered by a minor dispute.

She reported visible swelling on the right side of her head when officers met her at the scene.

According to her statement, the suspect left the home following the incident. She also noted that she was unable to immediately go to the police station due to caring for her infant child.

Formal complaint filed the following day

The next day, the woman went to a police station in the wider area and officially filed a complaint for domestic violence.

In her testimony, she alleged she was struck twice on the head and once on the neck, resulting in swelling and a minor injury to her ear.

Greek authorities are continuing their investigation into the case.
