Swedish pole vault star Armand “Mondo” Duplantis set another world record after clearing 6.31 meters on his first attempt during a meet in Uppsala, Sweden.
The record-breaking jump came in just his second appearance of the season and electrified the crowd at the event, which took place in the athlete’s hometown. Duplantis needed only one attempt to surpass the height and set a new global benchmark in the sport.
The achievement marked the second time Duplantis has broken the world record on Swedish soil and the first time he has done so at an indoor competition.
Dominant performance on home soil
Duplantis once again demonstrated his dominance in the pole vault, improving the world record and leaving competitors trailing behind.
Norway’s Sondre Guttormsen finished in second place with a jump of 6.00 meters, while American vaulter Sam Kendricks took third with 5.90 meters.
Karalis finishes seventh
Greek athlete Emmanouil Karalis placed seventh in the competition with a best jump of 5.80 meters.
Karalis opened his event with a failed attempt but quickly found his rhythm, clearing 5.80 meters comfortably. He opted to skip the 5.90-meter height and moved directly to 6.00 meters. However, all three of his attempts at that height were unsuccessful, with the bar falling as he descended during one of the jumps.
