Μake us preferred on Google The investigation into the disappearance of a 58-year-old psychologist in Greece’s Argolis region has ended with two arrests after police announced that the suspects confessed to the killing.
The victim, who had initially been reported missing, was found dead in an advanced state of decomposition in a remote rural area near Chinteika in Kandia, within the Municipality of Nafplio. Authorities confirmed the case is being treated as a homicide.
According to the Hellenic Police, officers from the Nafplio Crime Investigation Department, working with the Directorate for Combating Organized Crime and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, solved the case following a coordinated investigation.
Two foreign nationals, aged 20 and 24, were arrested on August 2 in separate operations in the Attica region. They face charges of homicide, robbery, and weapons offenses.
Police said the victim’s disappearance was reported by a relative on the evening of July 25. During an extensive investigation involving the analysis of evidence and other findings, investigators concluded that on the night of July 24 the two suspects got into the victim’s vehicle and traveled with him to a community in the Municipality of Nafplio.
According to police, the suspects then immobilized the 58-year-old and fatally attacked him with a sharp object. They stole cash, his mobile phone, and his vehicle before fleeing the scene. The vehicle was later abandoned on a hill near the area where the suspects were living.
On August 2, investigators located the victim’s body in a rural area of the Municipality of Nafplio. A forensic examiner and crime scene investigators were dispatched to examine the site.
Police said both suspects confessed to the crime. They are expected to appear before the competent judicial authorities, while the Nafplio Crime Investigation Department continues the preliminary investigation.
