Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks are parting ways, marking the end of an era for the Wisconsin franchise. After 13 years, the Greek superstar is leaving the Bucks in a move that reshapes the NBA landscape, heading to the Miami Heat via trade.
According to reports, the Bucks traded the Greek Freak along with Bobby Portis in exchange for Tyler Herro, Kasparas Jakucionis, Jaime Jaquez Jr., and Kel’el Ware. The deal also includes three first-round draft picks (2026, 2031, and 2033) and one second-round pick (2033).
As had been reported in recent days, Antetokounmpo appeared to favor a move to Miami, although he had not ruled out the possibility of joining the Boston Celtics. According to the same sources, his goal was to remain in the Eastern Conference, where he has played since the start of his NBA career.

The Heat, led by head coach Erik Spoelstra since 2018 and with legendary executive Pat Riley serving as team president, view the addition of Antetokounmpo as an opportunity to return to championship contention. His presence is expected to significantly strengthen the frontcourt and alter the balance of power in the Eastern Conference.
On his new team, Giannis will join players such as center Bam Adebayo—who is represented by the same agent—Serbian forward Nikola Jovic, Swedish forward Pelle Larsson, and guard Davion Mitchell. At the same time, further roster moves are expected, with Norman Powell and Andrew Wiggins potentially remaining with the team on new contracts.
