The sports legend of Greece and Europe, Olympiacos, is celebrating a century of existence on Monday, March 10, with a three-day series of events scheduled. On Sunday, before the Super League home match against OFI Crete, Olympiacos fans in the stands created an impressive and unprecedented choreo, covering every seat of the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium.

Images of the remarkable sight, accompanied by fans’ chants, was disseminated around the world.

The choreo featured, on one side of the stands, the letters “Ο.Σ.Φ.Π.”, which in Greek stand for Olympiacos Association of Piraeus Fans, the team’s official name, as established in 1925. The other side of the stadium saw the choreo depict the team’s emblem, while the middle stands created the number “100”, the centennial of the club’s formation.

Stadium illuminated

The Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium will be illuminated throughout the three-day period, with the club’s trophies on display at the stadium over the weekend as well, including the European “Silverware”.

Fans that didn’t get a chance to pose in front of the trophies at the Municipal Theater of Piraeus or during a tour of the latter throughout Greece, will have another opportunity over the weekend at the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium. Olympiacos’ trophies – in all sports! – will be displayed at the Municipal Theater between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Monday for fans to be photographed with them.

Additionally, commemorative season ticket cards and coupons will be available on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Sunday between 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the stadium’s ticket booths. Holders of electronic season ticket cards will now have the chance to receive an actual card in their hands.

Commemorative uniform

Olympiacos’ players are wearing a special commemorative uniform for the game on Sunday – kit designed in cooperation with adidas.

The collector’s edition jersey features adidas’ 1972 logo, which the multinational has licensed only to Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Manchester United, Juventus, Arsenal and Olympiacos to wear this season.

The uniform is now available for fans, and according to initial information, is selling out.

The club has also called on the team’s fans around the world to illuminate their homes, town squares and spaces in any way they choose, creating a “magical” image in Piraeus and the greater Athens area – a fitting tribute for Olympiacos’ 100th birthday, the biggest multi-sport organization in Europe.

Olympiacos Stamps

On Monday, the actual anniversary of Olympiacos’ founding, a special commemorative stamp collection will be circulated by Hellenic Post, honoring the club and the 100-year anniversary.

The stamp collection will be unveiled during a special ceremony, with the commemorative stamps featuring the laurel-crowned youth and the title “100 Years Olympiacos”, with the first day’s circulation stamps contained in a special collector’s envelope.

Drone Show

On Monday, March 10, at exactly 19:25 local time, a spectacular drone show will take place at the port of Piraeus, visible from every corner of the municipality and from the surrounding high points of the greater Athens area.

Three hundred drones will create impressive formations for 12 minutes, visible in the nighttime sky over Piraeus.
