Panathinaikos BC won its seventh European Final Four basketball title on Sunday evening by crushing Real Madrid in the second half of championship game 95-80 in Berlin’s Uber Arena.

Panathinaikos Athens overcame a 14-point deficit and captured the EuroLeague title in the last League game for Rudy Fernandez.

The score by quarters was 25-36, 24-18, 15-7 and 31-16 in the fourth and last 10-minute period.

Some 8,000 were in the Berlin arena to support the Ergin Ataman-coached club. On his part, Greek guard Kostas Sloukas, PAO BC’s captain, became the first player since Sarunas Jasikevicius to win the EuroLeague with three different basketball teams. The Greek player, who scored 24 points with an almost perfect stat sheet, also picked the MVP title.

Indicative of its poor second half was the fact that Real’s players scored only seven points in the third quarter.
