Videos that surfaced on Monday show violence between fans and players at Sunday’s match on the island of Rhodes, which left two players injured.

The match was held on the large Dodecanese island of Rhodes between third-tier teams of Thyella Rafina from Attica prefecture (east of Athens proper) and local club Afantou for the third division’s championship play.

According to reports, the incident started in the 97th minute (injury time) when it appeared the the game would finish with a 1-1 tie, causing some of the onlookers to rush the field.

The video shows both “hot-blooded” fans and players entering the fray, while there is a noticeable absence of police.

Following the match, the standings show Korinthos, Thyella Rafina and Rodos leading group 3 of the third division (Gamma Ethniki).

The Hellenic Football Association’s (EPO) top three tiers are Super League 1, Super League 2 and Gamma Ethniki. The latter currently features four groups and each group has 18 clubs competing.
