Greece is increasingly attracting American tourists, who are becoming one of the country’s most lucrative visitors. While the United States ranks fifth in total arrivals, it is now the third-largest market in terms of travel revenue, largely due to higher spending per visitor.
According to a 2024 INSETE study compared to 2023, travel receipts from the U.S. reached €1.584 billion, up 13.6%, with 2.342 million visits (+5.7%) and 14.768 million overnight stays (-5.7%). On average, American tourists spend €676 per visit—well above the national average of €523—and €107 per night, compared with €89 for the overall tourist average. Their average stay is slightly longer at 6.3 nights versus 5.9 nights nationally.
