Greece’s National Meteorological Service (EMY) updated its severe weather bulletin on Tuesday, warning that extreme heat will persist on Wednesday, with temperatures expected to reach as high as 43 degrees Celsius in parts of the country.
An orange-level heat warning has been issued for Thessaly, eastern Central Greece and the eastern Peloponnese, where the highest temperatures are forecast.
According to EMY, temperatures are expected to reach 41-42C across much of the affected areas, with isolated locations in Thessaly likely to see highs of up to 43C.
In the Attica region, including Athens, temperatures are forecast to reach 40-41C.
The other regions will see:
Thessaly: 41-42C, locally up to 43C.
Eastern Central Greece: 41-42C, with Attica reaching 40-41C.
Eastern Peloponnese: 41-42C.
EMY said it will update its emergency weather bulletin on Wednesday morning based on the latest forecast data.
