Christopher Nolan Offers Another Peek of ‘The Odyssey’

The time the Oscar-winning director offer another glimpse of the Hollywood mega-production at Las Vegas' CinemaCon

Hollywood “A-list” director Christopher Nolan offered movie theater owners an exclusive first glimpse of his upcoming epic film “The Odyssey” during a presentation at CinemaCon on Wednesday night in Las Vegas. The film, based on Homer’s timeless classic, is scheduled for release on July 17 and is already among the year’s most anticipated movies.

Taking the stage, Nolan cited what he called the enduring significance of the story, describing it as something that has captivated audiences for more than three millennia.

“It’s not a story, it’s the story,” he told the audience before unveiling an extended clip.

The footage, which hasn’t been officially released, depicted the dramatic arrival of the Trojan Horse and a tense nighttime infiltration of the citadel city of Troy, with Jon Bernthal’s Menelaus referring to the sequence as “the story of the horse.”

In a technical milestone, “The Odyssey” marks the first feature film shot entirely on IMAX film, made possible by newly developed cameras designed to reduce operational noise—an ambition Nolan said he has pursued since his teenage years.

The production features a star-studded cast led by Matt Damon as Odysseus, Anne Hathaway as Penelope, Tom Holland as Telemachus, Zendaya as Athena, and Robert Pattinson as Antinous.

The project follows Nolan’s critically acclaimed “Oppenheimer”, which dominated the 2024 awards season, winning Best Picture and Best Director at the Academy Awards.
