From April 30, 2025, for four performances only, join Natasa Arabatzi and her trapeze in “(π)ending,” an innovative dance journey that invites the audience to reflect on the paradoxes of waiting and existence. Performed at the Rektifie Theatre in Athens, this intimate piece delves into the suspended moments in our lives—those periods where waiting becomes an art form, between what’s yet to come and what’s already passed.
Created, choreographed, and performed by Natasa Arabatzi, “(π)ending” tackles the universal experience of time spent in anticipation: waiting for a bus, the next opportunity, or the eventual turn of events that may or may not ever arrive.
Through a blend of humor, reality, and fantasy, the performance uses the metaphor of a child’s trapeze swing to highlight the cyclical nature of existence. From the moments of stillness to the moments of action, “(π)ending” beautifully portrays the emotional weight of waiting, its frustrations, and its revelations.
About the Show
Inspired by research on how we spend our lives in the Western world, the performance examines how time is passed in a seemingly endless cycle of waiting—whether it’s waiting for food to cook, for an event to take place, or for something more meaningful to happen. The performance showcases the duality of existence: the quiet stillness that surrounds us when we’re caught in a waiting period and the inevitable unfolding of events that are sometimes beyond our control.
A second iteration of “(π)ending” was first presented in 2024 and received critical acclaim for its exploration of time, human habits, and emotional introspection. The performance uses aerial dance and the trapeze as symbols of the emotional pendulum that swings between the highs and lows of waiting.
