Places To See, Things To Do, Food To Eat This Weekend

Here are a few recommendations for anyone looking to get out of the house!

Something to see: The Devil Wears Prada 2 At Cine Paris

I don’t know if you’ve heard, but this open-air cinema in Athens has been crowned one of the best cinemas in the world. Not only that, it opened its door early this year! As a big fashion lover, I’ve been looking forward to seeing what Hollywood has concocted with the Devil Wears Prada sequel. Cine Paris is located in the heart of Plaka, and features a breathtaking view of the Acropolis. As well as cocktails and, of course, the classic movie theatre foods: nachos and popcorn.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 will be screened at Cine Paris from Thursday April 30th til Sunday May 3rd at 23:10.

An Ode To Things At EMST

An Ode to Things. Niki Kanagini. Retrospective revisits the work of one of the most significant Greek female artists of the post-war era, Niki Kanagini (1933 – 2008), in order to offer a comprehensive re-examination of her artistic practice and pay tribute to one of the most singular female voices of the latter part of the twentieth century in Greece. The exhibition brings together a diverse body of work, spanning four decades: from her large-scale tapestries first shown at the 5th International Tapestry Biennial of Lausanne (1971) and her first solo exhibition at Iolas-Zoumboulakis Gallery (1976), to her immersive, participatory installations.

Something to do: 72nd Annual Flower Show In Kifissia Park

Around this time last year was when I first visited the Flower Show in Kifissia. One of the largest flower shows in Athens, it is a great way to find some of the blooms you may have seen online but never in person. While you’re there, you may as well pick up a pot or two of pretty florals for your own home! There are also some lovely vendors selling botanical or floral handmade crafts, as well as some lovely candles.

The 72nd Annual Flower Show will be taking place until May 17th, 2026.

Railbiking At Megara

If you’re feeling really adventurous (and the weather allows it), railbiking is an option! Though I must warn you, the drive or public transport journey is a little long to get to Megara. Get a few friends together and make it a daytrip, see the sights, laugh a little at the short, bright red railbikes and have fun!

Something to eat: SoSoSo Ramen In Syntagma Square

In the spirit of the Athens Asian Food Festival taking place this weekend in Kypseli City Market, I would like to introduce you to my current favorite ramen place. Weather forecasts are looking really glum so comfort food will definitely be on the menu. In case you’re not familiar, ramen is somewhat of a hybrid between a pasta dish and a really flavorful souppersonally, I think it’s the best Japanese dish to exist.

My ramen bowl of choice is the Tonkotsu with pork fillets and king oyster mushrooms. If you do pay them a visit, I would also recommend you try their veggie gyoza and the intriguing Japanese melon soda!

Pork Hub Athens In Exarcheia

Street food can also be considered comfort food… right?

A few “Something to eats” ago, I mentioned my undying love for Kantina Mavili and street food in general. Pork Hub is another one of those deliciously fatty sandwich shops with melt-in-your-mouth roast pork as their specialty ingredient. Their Umami sando is probably my favorite option of the bunch, but for anyone feeling more creative you can customize your own sandwich as wanted!

Something extra: Listen to the jazzahead! 2026 Showcases

Inspired by International Jazz Day, I’d like to leave you with this curated playlist of the jazzahead! festival that took place in Bremen, Germany this week. As a big jazz fan myself, I’m going to spendlet’s face it—a fair amount of time indoors listening to this year’s showcasing bands.
