For quite some time, rumors have been circulating that U2, the beloved band behind some of the biggest hits in music history, could come to Greece in 2027 as part of their new world tour.

Since Wednesday, however, fan interest has reached fever pitch, after a trailer video sparked fresh speculation about upcoming announcements for the European cities where the legendary band will perform.

Reports have also been circulating on international websites since last night linking Greece to two separate concerts in late May. If that scenario is confirmed, the shows would rank among the biggest concert events of the year for Greek audiences.

Who are U2?

U2 were formed in Dublin, Ireland, in 1976 and, 50 years later, remain one of the most recognizable bands in the history of global music.

Their story began when drummer Larry Mullen Jr. put up a notice on his school bulletin board looking for musicians to form a band. That first meeting eventually produced the lineup known today: Bono on vocals, The Edge on guitar, Adam Clayton on bass and Larry Mullen Jr. on drums.

The four musicians went on to evolve from a group of young performers into a band with enormous international influence, millions of fans and a musical career spanning five decades.

The hits that made history

From the iconic The Joshua Tree to the groundbreaking Achtung Baby, U2 have created songs that transcended their era and continue to be heard around the world.

Who could forget With or Without You, Where the Streets Have No Name, I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For, One, Beautiful Day, Sunday Bloody Sunday, Pride (In the Name of Love) and Vertigo?

Their music combines rock with experimentation, while their lyrics have often explored themes including love, freedom, politics, social justice and human dignity.

It is no coincidence that they have won numerous Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year for The Joshua Tree and How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb.

At the same time, their spectacular stage productions have left their own mark on the concert industry. From the enormous U2 360° tour to their immersive performances at the Sphere in Las Vegas in 2023 and 2024, U2 have demonstrated that a concert can become a complete audiovisual experience.

The big 2027 comeback

And now, all eyes are turning to 2027.

U2 have announced their new world tour, titled Carnaval De Luz Presents: The Greatest Show on Earth, which will support their upcoming album Carnaval De Luz, scheduled for release on November 13, 2026.

The first announced concerts are in cities across Latin America, while dates for Europe and North America are expected to be announced.

And this is where the Greek interest begins.

According to the information circulating, Greece could be among the European stops on the tour, with two concerts scheduled for late May. So far, however, there has been no official confirmation of dates in Greece.

Will we see them at OAKA?

According to our information, if the two concerts in Greece do indeed take place, the likely location would be OAKA, the Olympic Athletic Center of Athens.

The venue could accommodate a production of this scale and welcome the thousands of fans who have been waiting for years for the opportunity to experience a U2 concert in person.

Of course, until an official announcement is made, everything remains at the level of information and expectations.

The only certainty is that the prospect of seeing U2 in Greece has already generated enormous excitement.

We now await the official announcements for the European leg of the tour and hope Greece will be among the cities chosen to host the legendary band.

U2 fans, hold your breath, cross your fingers and start manifesting.

Could 2027 finally be the year we all sing With or Without You beneath the Greek sky?
