Greece’s Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) is set to activate a new digital tool aimed at making professionals’ lives easier, by the end of January. The tool will allow businesses and professionals to issue and transmit documents such as invoices and retail receipts directly to the myDATA platform from their mobile phones, quickly and free of charge.

So far, 580,955 professionals and small businesses have registered for the free app ‘timologio’, an electronic invoice system, to issue their documents, which will now also be available as a mobile app.

Through the same free app, professionals will be able to issue the digital delivery note, which will allow the tax authority to monitor, in real time, the loading time, movement, and content of goods throughout the market.

With the expansion of digital applications, a ‘mobile accounting system’ is essentially being created, enabling taxpayers to issue documents, store necessary tax records, track income and expenses, stay fully informed about open accounts with the tax office, fulfill their obligations, and pay taxes directly from their mobile phones.

At the same time, AADE’s action plan to expand electronic transactions with the tax authorities includes:

• The activation of a digital client registry, by the end of February, which certain categories of self-employed professionals and businesses will be required to maintain. This will allow the auditing system to monitor the number of their clients online.

• The implementation of the digital delivery note starting in April 2025. Businesses will be required to issue digital movement documents and transmit their data to the digital platform myDATA.

• From July onward, the widespread expansion of the electronic invoice system ‘timologio’ app is expected, which is already in use by thousands of businesses.
