The Athens Stock Exchange closed slightly higher on Monday in a volatile session, with the General Index holding onto modest gains despite swinging between negative and positive territory throughout the day.

The General Index ended at 2,521.18 points, up 0.13%, after trading between an intraday low of 2,510.38 points and a high of 2,531.76 points. Turnover reached €371.19 million on volume of 52.36 million shares. The large-cap index rose 0.18% while the mid-cap index slipped 0.12%. Declining stocks outnumbered advancers, with 63 shares closing lower, 40 higher, and 20 unchanged.

Among large-caps, Alpha Bank led gains with a rise of 2.56%, followed by Coca-Cola HBC up 2.45%, Metlen up 74%, and Piraeus Bank up 1.69%. OTE closed at €19.93, up 0.61%.

On the downside, AKTOR suffered the sharpest decline among large-caps, falling 11.01%, followed by CrediaBank down 3.85%, PPC down 2.86%, Motor Oil down 2.81%, and Viohalco down 2.73%.

Alpha Bank recorded the highest trading volume at 10.79 million shares, followed by Eurobank at 8.41 million. By value, Piraeus Bank led with €55.64 million, followed by AKTOR at €53.87 million. Among smaller stocks, Dromeas posted the biggest gain at 6.98%, while EINS rose 4.56%.
