Kyriakos Pierrakakis, Greece’s minister of national economy and finance and president of the Eurogroup, is traveling to Brussels on Wednesday for the first leg of a three-day trip that will also take him to France. His first stop is an official meeting with Roberta Metsola, president of the European Parliament.
Focus on Eurogroup-Parliament ties
The talks between Pierrakakis and Metsola are expected to center on issues of shared interest, with particular emphasis on deepening cooperation between the Eurogroup and the European Parliament.
Keynote at EU budget conference
On Thursday, Pierrakakis is scheduled to deliver a keynote speech at the European Commission’s annual conference on the EU budget, titled “Boost Europe: Leveraging the EU Budget for Strategic Priorities.” In his remarks, he plans to outline his views on strengthening the international role of the euro and on the strategic importance of the European budget in financing the bloc’s shared priorities.
Aix-en-Provence forum
From Brussels, Pierrakakis will travel to France, where he is set to take part in the Rencontres Économiques d’Aix-en-Provence on July 2 and 3. The event is organized by the Cercle des économistes and ranks among Europe’s most prominent economic forums, drawing senior figures from politics, business, finance and academia each year. This year’s edition is themed “Navigate a World of Uncertainty.”
