Ingredients

Serves 4

  • 4 burger buns
  • 4 slices of cheese (cheddar, gouda, whatever you like)
  • 4 slices of bacon, cooked
  • 600g minced beef
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Onion slices
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Tomato slices

Directions

  1. Divide the minced beef into 4 portions and form 4 burgers.

  2. Season with salt and pepper just before grilling.

  3. Place the burgers on the oven grill. Put a tray underneath to catch all the drippings.

  4. Grill for 5-7 minutes on each side, depending on your  desired doneness.

  5. The longer they grill, the drier they become. The ideal grilling is when the juices run clear.

  6. Place a slice of cheese on each burger.

  7. Grill for 1 minute until the cheese starts to melt.

  8. Split the buns in half and add your desired toppings (ketchup, lettuce, onion etc.) along with your beef with melted cheese and the bacon.

Recipe Tips

How to cook your bacon

On the grill (along with the burgers):
You can place the bacon on the grill, on top of some aluminum foil, and cook it for a few minutes — but be careful, because it cooks very quickly and can burn easily.

In the frying pan (classic method):
Place the bacon in a cold non-stick pan. Turn the heat to medium and let it cook slowly, flipping it so it browns on both sides. When it’s crispy, remove it and drain it on paper towels.
