In his weekly post, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis referred, among other issues, to the signing of agreements between the Greek state and the Chevron–Helleniq Energy consortium, his participation in the India AI Impact Summit 2026, the launch of the “ERGANI II” system and the regulation of Swiss franc-denominated loans.
As he noted, the signing of the agreements with the Chevron–Helleniq Energy consortium, combined with the planned first exploratory drilling at the offshore “Block 2” site in the Ionian Sea expected in early 2027, “constitute two major milestones on the natural gas exploration front after 40 years. It is a substantive restart.”
He also wrote that Greece can serve as a gateway for the Indo-Pacific to Europe and a critical hub in the Middle East–India–Europe Corridor (IMEC), a view he said is shared by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Mitsotakis described the launch of “ERGANI II” as a step toward modernization and referred to the utilization of two inactive plots belonging to the Technical University of Crete, where new infrastructure will be built for the student and research community.
In his review, he also mentioned the identification of “serious irregularities in the approval of social solidarity benefits during the period 2020–2022,” following audits ordered by the administration of OPEKA after reports of actions incompatible with protocol and significant deviations from prescribed procedures.
Regarding the recent India AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi, he spoke of “the digital leap our country has made in recent years,” announcing forthcoming measures to address digital addiction among minors.
He further highlighted the strategic Greece–India relationship, which he said is gaining additional momentum through the forthcoming EU–India trade agreement, creating new access opportunities for European products and businesses in a vast market.
Finally, the prime minister referred to the integration of the first 100 electric buses into the fleet of the Organization of Urban Transportation of Thessaloniki (OSETH) through a KTEL consortium, as well as the opening of the new “Akti Poseidonos” terminal stop of Tram Line 7, fully activating its connection with the Port of Piraeus.
