A power distribution worker was injured Saturday morning in Fichtia, in the regional unit of Argolis, while repairing electricity infrastructure damaged by the major wildfire that swept through the area on Friday.

According to initial reports, the employee of HEDNO (Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator) was trapped beneath a falling tree that collapsed while crews were working to restore power to fire-affected communities.

An ambulance from Greece’s National Emergency Aid Center (EKAB) responded to the scene and transported the injured worker to Argos General Hospital, where he is receiving medical treatment.

Authorities have not released further details about the worker’s condition.

The circumstances surrounding the workplace accident are under investigation.

The incident occurred as HEDNO repair crews continued efforts to restore electricity services following extensive damage to the area’s power distribution network caused by the wildfire.
