Qatari Emir to Meet With Greek PM in Athens on Regional Crisis and Investment

Greek officials said the visit confirmed Greece's role as a stabilizing force in the broader region.

The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, will visit Athens on Wednesday for talks with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis at the Maximos Mansion, the Greek government announced.

The visit is expected to cover regional developments and diplomatic efforts to resolve ongoing conflicts in the Middle East, as well as the strengthening of bilateral relations with a particular focus on economic cooperation and investment, especially in the energy sector.

Greek officials said the visit confirmed Greece’s role as a stabilizing force in the broader region and a reliable partner at a particularly difficult moment for Gulf states. Greece, which maintains open channels of communication with all countries in the region, condemned attacks against Gulf states from the outset and offered its support and solidarity, they added.

The Qatar Investment Authority has already committed to investing one billion dollars in Greece.
